ISO 45001 : 2018 Health & Safety Companies Management

This Standard represents the evolution of BS EN OHSAS 18001 into a globally harmonized occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) that can be implemented by all business sectors. The benefits of an effective OHSMS have been identified by at least 60,000 companies in 125 countries that have implemented the 18001 requirements to date.  The primary function of an OHS management system is to keep people safe and to maintain compliance to the requirements.

By implementing ISO 45001:2018 you will be managing your business activities to reduce the risk of harm to your most valuable resource, your staff, help your organization reduce accidents, reduce ill health, help to avoid legal costs, and establish sound occupational health and safety performance.

Some of the changes from 18001 to ISO 45001:2018:

  • Structure based on Annex SL aligns with ISO 9001, ISO 9000 internal auditsISO 14001 internal audits, & ISO 27001
  • Structure will contain 10 sections
  • Requirements will include: Context of the Organization, Leadership, Improvement
  • Requirements will include: Risk Evaluation and Opportunities, Performance
  • New Terms and Definitions
  • Hazard identification will be replaced with “risk identification” and “risk control”
  • The term “Preventive Action” will be excluded

You have an option of registration or certification (compliance) to this standard.  Both acknowledge compliance to ISO 45001:2018.   An implemented management system can help keep you ahead of most accidents that can cost your company loss of time, and an increase in your workers compensation insurance.

In some regions, by being health & safety compliant your company could see a cost savings in insurance premiums. We recommend having your insurance agent contact us directly to determine if you qualify.

We can also help with overview training for your company or upgrading your internal audit training (No consulting allowed).  Should you need more consultative support, we can refer you to Systems Specialists that work independently of DAC Audit Services.

Whether you are requesting information about ISO 45001, initial registration, certification, (compliance), or training, we can help.
